The Orifice Tube controls the flow of refrigerant into the evaporator. Similar to the carburetor on an engine, the Orifice Tube prevents flooding and starving of refrigerant supply to the evaporator. The Orifice Tube is partially responsible for controlling the pressures within the A/C system. Orifice tubes are color coded based on the size of the orifice.
